Pawlenty Endorses Mitt Romney

The AP is reporting that dropout Presidential candidate Gov. Tim Pawlenty is throwing what little clout he still has behind Gov. Mitt Romney in the race for the Republican nomination. This may or may not come as a surprise to primary-watchers, depending on how one looks at it. It is a bit of a shock that the former “biggest Romney contender” Pawlenty would now do a 180 and say he agrees with Romney. Remember, that whole Obamneycare thing? Of course, when given an opportunity, Pawlenty opted out of attacking the Massachusetts health care plan to Romney’s face at a primary debate. Was Pawlenty too cowardly to confess to his trash talking? Or was that a keen political maneuver? One must ponder…

One wonders what this support means – does Tim Pawlenty believe that Romney will be the nominee? Is he trying to secure a cabinet seat or perhaps a VP position, much like Newt Gingrich appears to be lobbying for by making a point to inform the moderators at every debate that every Republican on the stage is a great person and they would all make excellent presidents? Only time will tell. But let me tell you this, those few Pawlenty diehards who still remain are unlikely to focus their support for Romney after spending loads of time ripping him apart on behalf of the Minnesota governor earlier in the primary season.

*UPDATE*
Politico is reporting that Tim Pawlenty is looking for help from Mitt Romney on settling his campaign debt. I suppose that answers my earlier question posted above. Pawlenty was simply selling his support – classy. I guess it’s no surprise that the candidate with the deepest pockets received that support.
